On Demand: Awareness to Action: Managing Microaggressions
This self-paced video replay workshop examines the subtle yet harmful effects of microaggressions in professional settings, with a focus on their psychological, emotional, and organizational impact. Participants will learn to recognize different types of microaggressions, understand how they contribute to workplace inequity, and explore strategies to address and disrupt these behaviors. The session is designed to support the development of more inclusive, respectful, and culturally responsive work environments.
Objectives:
Define and differentiate types of microaggressions commonly encountered in mental health workspaces, including those related to race, gender, sexuality and professional hierarchy.
Analyze the impact microaggression on staff morale, team dynamics and the therapeutic alliance in clinical and organizational settings.
Implement culturally responsive strategies to address, interrupt and repair microaggressions in ways that support equity, inclusion and psychological safety in the workplace.
